2020 Reflections and 2021 Beginnings.

Writer's picture: Danielle Danielle

2020 was the year of growth.

I took a test when I was younger, called the Myers-Briggs test (a link to the test is at the bottom of the post). The results showed that my personality type was that of an INFP. According to the test, the traits of an INFP individual are as follows:

On the outside, they may seem quiet and shy, but on the inside, they are passionate and creative individuals. They sometimes feel misunderstood or out of place in the world. However, their caring nature can help sustain deep relationships.

They are interested in human nature and wanting to understand others' true feelings. They yearn for creative self-expression.

This personality type may feel lost with no sense of direction or stuck until they have a feeling of purpose in their lives. This motivation has to do with helping and inspiring others.

The above description was how I felt until I started my blog and Instagram posts this past year.

I always wanted to do something like this but was too scared to do it. Being completely open and vulnerable with people is terrifying for me and completely out of my comfort zone. My family and friends always said I should share my story with the world, so here I am :). It may seem like a small feat for some, but it was a huge growth experience for me.

We often discourage ourselves with the "I can't" and "I'm going to fail" phrases but forget about the "what ifs?". "What if you took that new job opportunity?","What if you started training for that half marathon?" or "What if I never started this blog?". We need to start instilling confidence in ourselves and say "I can" and "I will". Let 2021 be the year that you start to work on all those projects or ideas you've always dreamed about doing. No excuses.

My friend sent me an interview segment with the University of Pennsylvania Dean, Erika James. She said that "When we bet on ourselves, we start to create other people's confidence."

2021 is going to the year that I bet on myself.

Happy New Year, my friends <3

Side Note: I want to thank each and every one of you who continue to read my blog posts. You guys make me feel less alone and realize how normal anxiety really is. This is not something that we need to suffer with by ourselves. I hope I've encouraged you to speak your own truth with purpose and confidence. If you ever need to talk, you know where to find me.
